48th Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival
Join us for Fall Creek Falls State Park’s 48th Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival to celebrate the heritage, history, and natural beauty of the Cumberland Plateau! This event kicks off Friday September 11th at 6:00pm CST and continues Saturday 9:00am-10:00pm CST and Sunday the 13th 9:00am-5:00pm CST. This 3-day event features upwards of one hundred craft vendors that sell a variety of hand-made crafts and artisan items and has over 20 food vendors offering an array of delicious meals and treats! There will be a full line-up of live bluegrass and folk style music on two stages featuring several renowned bands and musical artists. Demonstrations are showcased throughout the festival and include blacksmiths, chair-caning, broom-making, leatherwork, sorghum milling powered by mules, alpaca fleece spinning and weaving, quilting, log hewing, and more! Be sure to join us at the softball field Saturday at noon for cross-cut sawing, wood splitting, animal calling, and corn shelling contests. Don’t forget to bring the little ones to our Little Homesteaders Hideaway located in the courtyard of the Recreation Hall. This area features traditional Appalachian games and activities such as hopscotch, checkers, tic-tac-toe, yo-yo, stick horse racing, jacks, hula-hoop, and more! A shuttle service will be provided on Saturday and Sunday during the festival and will run regularly between the festival grounds, the Lodge, Campground A, and Nature Center. The Fall Creek Falls Mountaineer Folk Festival has a suggested donation of 5 dollars per person per day, which directly supports the Fall Creek Falls Friends Group.
